But isn’t it wrong to give money to people who waste or squander it? What about drug addicts, alcoholics, and folks who are lazy or irresponsible?
There are such people today, have been throughout history, and will be tomorrow, too, no matter what we do.
Like today, many such people will reform on their own or with help from family, friends, faith, or therapy. Unlike today, everyone will have direct financial support and incentives for personal responsibility. Folks who want to reform will be more likely to succeed.
Everyone will be better off. Addicts and alcoholics will be less of a burden on their families and friends, less of a burden on society, and less costly to our government. Their friends and families will have added ways to help them, and the freedom to just love them and let them be.
